2 Day Course Onsite at SprintRay Headquarters (Los Angeles, CA)

3D printing is the new disruptive industry in manufacturing and will revolutionize the way we will practice digital dentistry in the near future. This course is an introduction to understanding all aspects of the 3D printing process in the dental clinic related to the TMJ. Learn how to diagnose the different conditions that affect the TMJ and how to treat them with this new technology. From the MRI images for disk disorders to the CBCT images of the osseous tissue of the joint, different paths of treatment need to be addressed. We will teach you how to recognize the condition and how to 3D print the appliance that will help the patient. The areas of Data Capturing through all different IOS available systems and CBCT systems will be addressed and well as the pros and cons, considerations for the scanning process, preferences of scanners and scanning software. Printing directly from converted to STL files from DICOM CBCT files will be introduced and also the understanding of different file types and techniques for exporting, packaging, storing files, etc. The treatment planning phase for the different disorders and digital file design as well as an overview of available design software will be thoroughly covered. Techniques for 3D printing,  overview of available materials for 3D printing, post-processing the 3D prints (wash and cure) and the review of clinical cases on how the 3D printed appliances are actually used for the TMJ disorders.

Morning:

Cone Beam CT and MRI and their capabilities for more detailed imaging information of the TMJ disorders. 

  • An introduction to understanding all aspects of the DICOMS acquisition.
  • Learn how to reduce scattering artifacts
  • A review of CBCT applications in 3D printing process.
  • An overview of the DICOMS manipulation and interpretation to avoid misdiagnosis.
  • File types and techniques for exporting, packaging, and archiving.
  • MRI and discal disorders.
  • Masticatory muscles evaluations and their disorders.

Afternoon:

Applications of Intra-Oral scanning

  • Sprint Ray printer

  • Learn all the possibilities of IOS: case setup, scanning strategy, scanning of models
  • learn how to do data clean up and analysis

ExoPlan design – A Hands-on Approach (first part)

  • Discuss what ExoPlan is and how it will allow us to incorporate both occlusal appliances design
  • Talk about night guard and orthotic AI Design
  • Importing both CBCT and Surface Scan data
  • Clean up and align the scan data
  • Define Panoramic Curve and TMJ
